Theme: Secondhand & inclusion
The 2020 edition of Second Fashion Week in Sweden took place in Falköping from September 21 to 24.
Falköping, known for its rich history and natural environment, provided an ideal setting for an event dedicated to sustainability and conscious fashion. With its balance between tradition and modernity, the city allowed Second Fashion Week to integrate perfectly into its community, highlighting the importance of responsible consumption.
Due to the uncertainty generated by the COVID-19 pandemic, a safer format was chosen, focused on photo sessions and sales, avoiding activities that could bring together large groups of people.
The event had the collaboration of local stores such as Bohaget Falköping which plays a crucial role in reducing the environmental impact in the municipality of Falköping. Through the reuse and repurposing of gadgets, furniture and used clothing, the store actively contributes to the circular economy. These items can be dropped off in the bin at the recycling center in Mossvägen or directly at the store, ensuring they have a second useful life.
And also Pingstkyrkan Secondhand Falköping, a church-run secondhand shop that raises funds for charity. The community can donate clothing and other items they no longer need, which are sold to support people in difficult situations. In addition to reducing environmental impact, the store promotes solidarity and mutual support, allowing donated objects to find a new home while helping those who need it most.
Here is part of their collection for sale next week during the first edition of the project. Thanks to the talented models Ingvar (a store’s volunteer) & Elisabeth (one of the many store’s visitors):
Numerous photo shoots were made with the clothing available at Pingstkyrkan Secondhand Falköping. These days were full of creativity and fun, capturing the essence of sustainable fashion in a vibrant and welcoming environment. The sessions not only highlighted the quality and style of the garments, but also created a visually appealing experience that highlighted the value of second-hand fashion. The collaboration with the local store allowed us to combine the art of photography with a social purpose, making each image tell a unique story about reuse and positive impact on the community.
Throughout the four days, creative photo sessions were held that highlighted second-hand fashion, highlighting the clothing and accessories available in these stores. In addition, special sales were held, where attendees had the opportunity to purchase unique pieces in a safe and responsible manner.
The 2020 edition in Falköping reflected Second Fashion Week’s commitment to sustainability, adapting to the circumstances and maintaining its mission of promoting conscious fashion and responsible consumption.
