Sweden Edition 2022: The Many Lives of Clothes
While the Angola edition was unfolding, Sweden hosted its own version of “The Many Lives of Clothes,” focusing on the creative potential of upcycling and the power of sustainable fashion. This edition took place in the picturesque town of Ljungskile, at the historic Ljungskiles Trikåfabriken, an antique knitting factory beautifully restored thanks to the efforts of Pernilla Toll, the custom designer for Gothenburg’s Opera.
The event was announced with great excitement. This workshop was made possible through a larger collaboration with Studieforbundet Vuxenskolan, Avendama, and Pernilla Toll herself. The workshop featured materials donated by Gina Tricot, including items from their old dead stock, giving new life to garments with minor flaws
The Swedish edition included a two-day upcycling workshop, where participants explored creative ways to transform discarded textiles into fashionable, wearable pieces.
This event was in collaboration with Studieforbundet Vuxenskolan, a public education organization dedicated to fostering personal growth through knowledge, perception, and participation.
Gina Tricot, a Swedish retail chain known for offering the latest in women’s fashion, also played a key role by donating materials for the workshop. Founded in 1997, Gina Tricot now operates around 150 stores across Europe and is committed to sustainable practices and innovative collaborations.
